Recently, I’ve been hearing a lot of people saying they aren’t grieving because nobody died. While that may be true, as Oprah says, “what I know for sure” is that change causes loss and loss causes grief. One need not experience the death of a close person or pet to experience grief. Changing or losing a job or career causes grief; moving from a loved house and community causes grief; getting a medical diagnosis that means a lifestyle shift causes grief. Even happy changes or changes you initiate yourself can cause grief because they mean you have to change your life. Having children, getting married, and even a promotion can all cause grief.

I heard this poem read in a class I attended last week. I thought of you because it was wonderful, and I hope you do too!

Life Is Now

Time flies and memories fade.

People change and new friendships are made.

Only the true remain forever at our side.

Eventually the disappointment and pain will subside.

It is all about the journey and what has yet to come.

Life is what you make of it; you are what you’ve become.

Life is too short to hold onto regrets.

Forgiveness is key even though you may never forget.

Cherish the good and remove the bad.

Some people don’t realize till it’s gone what they’ve had.

Moving on is a way of life.

There will always be obstacles, pain, and strife.

You must believe that you are strong enough to fight.

You have to believe in yourself to do what is right.

Always do for YOU no matter what you do,

Because in the end the only one who has your back is you.

Never be afraid to take a stand,

And always be willing to lend a helping hand.

A little bit goes a long way.

All it takes is a smile to brighten someone’s day.

Your chance to live is now, so what are you waiting for?

The world is yours for the taking and so much more.

Endless possibilities are forever at your disposal.

The chance to live another day is life’s golden proposal.

Never let anyone tear you down,

And never let anyone steal your shine and make you frown.

So will you sit in the shadows and let darkness win again?

Or will you rise up and make the light your friend?

Here is your chance, so what will you do?

You’ve got this because I believe in you!

What thoughts and feelings did this poem bring up for you? What actions will you take to be sure to live your life in the present moment? How will you use the extra day this month?

I hope you’ll write to me and let me know.

Energy and Grief

My podcast guest this week is Yvette Yeomans LeFlore. She is an intuitive energy healer, Reiki master teacher, and crystal clinician. (She was my instructor for Reiki I; and a wonderful one too!)

Our conversation primarily centered around energy work to help the body heal from grief. It is fascinating. We talk about how our emotions are energy as are our bodies. Reiki helps to move the energy away from where it is stuck in our body!

You can watch the podcast here.

Remember that it’s more than okay to take time for self-care and prioritize your emotional well-being.

Until the next time, I love and appreciate you.

With hugs and healing,

Amy
